God wants you to ask. In the third sermon of his series on the Lord's prayer, Pastor Elliott delves deeper, explaining that Jesus taught us to ask for what we need.
Of course God knows our desires without our asking, but He wants us to ask. If our petition is within His will, God will provide. From Old Testament (the prayer of Jabez in 1 Chronicles 4:10) to New Testament (the Lord's prayer and Jesus' explicit instructions about asking in Matthew 7:7-8), we are taught to obediently ask. When we ask for what is in His will, we show our desire that He rule in our lives, and He shows His goodness through His provision.
